A Typical Day as a Fashion Week Intern
No two days at Fashion Week are exactly the same, but here is what a typical show day looks like for an intern:
- Morning (8:00 AM - 10:00 AM) — Arrive at the venue for team briefing. Review the day's run-of-show and confirm your department assignments. Help with final setup and walkthroughs.
- Late Morning (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM) — Designers begin arriving with their collections. Backstage setup intensifies. Marketing interns capture pre-show content. PR interns manage early press arrivals.
- Afternoon (12:00 PM - 4:00 PM) — Model rehearsals and fittings. Operations interns finalize guest lists and seating. Sponsor activations go live. Energy builds as showtime approaches.
- Show Time (4:00 PM - 8:00 PM) — All hands on deck. Multiple shows may run back-to-back. Interns execute their assigned roles in real time. This is where your preparation pays off.
- Post-Show (8:00 PM - 10:00 PM) — Collection strike and garment returns. Post-show networking and after-party coordination. Team debrief and next-day prep.
Which Intern Role Is Right for You?
If you thrive in fast-paced physical environments and love logistics, Event Production or Operations may be your best fit. If you are a creative communicator, consider Marketing or Public Relations. If you are detail-oriented and enjoy client-facing work, Designer Relations or Sponsorship could be ideal. Not sure? Indicate your top two preferences on your application and our team will help match you.
